ALIGN=Default      ALIGN=Default

-    Credit Union Opportunities in a Crisis ... The economy, financial services market, and credit union industry are undergoing unprecedented changes. How can credit unions leverage these changes to shape their role in the 21st Century? What does the industry’s performance say about our marketplace momentum?

-    Filling the Void: Unique Opportunities in a Time of Change ... Markets and market participants are shifting dramatically in today’s environment. What unique opportunities does this environment present for credit unions? How are credit unions filling the void and meeting member needs at a time of market dislocation?

-    Key Questions for Credit Union Leaders ... Credit unions are at a critical point in their history. Identifying the right issues to address at both the credit union and industry level is essential. What are today’s key questions? What perspective do you bring to these issues in your role as a credit union leader?

-  ReConnecting with Members in a Changing Economy: Promoting the People Helping People Silver Lining ... Credit Union members are struggling and hurting. Some have lost job benefits while others have lost their jobs. Members need a financial institution that will be there for them. This session will offer some creative ideas that several credit unions have implemented to help their members through this rough economic period.

-  ReDiscovering the Credit Union Brand: 100 Years of Service Later ... What does your credit union really stand for? How do your members perceive the level of member service you provide? Are you viewed as just another "Bank", or are you seen as something much different, and better? Discussions in this session will focus on proven ways in which your credit union can stand apart from the competition.

-  ReInventing Our Credit Unions: Makeover Strategies for Future Thrival ... Why was your credit union founded in the first place? If your credit union didn't already exist, would there be a need to start it up today? Are you still meeting your member's needs? Are you doing business the same way that you always have, and if so, is it still effective? This important session will help attendees re-think product, service, policy and procedure delivery strategies for future trival.

Optional Focus Session:

-  Increase Your Financial Proficiency:
  1. Understand what the balance sheet and income statements are telling you
  2. Uncover the value of essential ratios and how they provide insights
  3. ALM Basics and discover how issues are foretold in statements and ratios, how to spot them and deal with them.

Meet Our Discussion Leader:

Dan Clark

President and Founder of Dan Clark Associates, Dan is a forty-year veteran of the credit union movement. As a regulator in Florida, the only field examiner to hold that post, Dan raised the quality of Florida’s credit unions by firming up the fundaments and dealing creatively with individual issues.

He further served Florida’s credit unions as head of the League’s auditing services. Beginning in 1981, Dan founded his consulting firm and began an eight-year stint as a director on SCORE FCU’s board. While there he was instrumental in developing Board Governance Policies. He also served that board as Chair.

Dan put the consulting firm into part-time mode as he served Tallahassee-Leon FCU as its CEO, 1987-2005. There he led the CU from 3 to 10% Net Worth, converted host systems, and improved the board’s information/knowledge system. During that time Dan earned the Management Achievement Award from the Credit Union Executives Society, the Certified CU Executive designation from CUNA, and opened two branches. TLFCU grew in assets three times faster than the annual growth in employees. Just prior to leaving TLFCU, he filed a successful proposal to NCUA to grant a community charter.

Clark’s consulting focus is board governance and strategic planning. In the latter, he specializes in raising planning to the next level, helping boards become more visionary, and extending the horizon for long-range planning beyond financial projections. Dan is also helping credit unions implement Member Financial Coaching as an important service offering.

Dan holds a degree in business and economics, with a concentration in accounting, from Central Florida’s Rollins College. He has written two books on credit union board governance and offers a model board governance policy manual.
